St. Croix River Association 100th Anniversary Paddle
In July 2011, the St. Croix River Association celebrated its 100th anniversary with a paddle down the entire St. Croix River. For 17 days and 184 miles, canoeists, kayakers and others traveled along the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway. Some people joined for a day, some for a weekend, some for the whole trip.
Explore the St. Croix and Namekagon Rivers in a journey across the four seasons and a thousand years of history. Together these rivers form the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway, created as a unit of the National Park System in 1968.
The film highlights the Riverway as a national treasure – a refuge of clean water and scenic vistas for wildlife and humans alike. Delight in the beauty of nature as you listen to those who enjoy and fight to protect these special places.
